On May 4, 2017, attorneys from the Foster Pepper Employment & Labor group hosted a seminar/webinar titled “Seattle Ordinances Affecting Employers – Hear From the City.” The seminar featured Foster Pepper attorneys and guest speaker Karina Bull from the City of Seattle’s Office of Labor Standards.
The Office of Labor Standards (OLS), created two years ago, is responsible for implementing and enforcing Seattle’s minimum wage, paid sick and safe time, wage theft, “ban the box,” and other ordinances, as well as measures that the City may enact in the future. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the requirements of these ordinances, compliance strategies, the OLS’s enforcement priorities, and tips to more effectively work with the OLS.
If you missed the presentation, you can review the materials or listen to a recording of the seminar here. To find materials from other presentations on employment and labor topics, click here and scroll to the bottom of the page.
